Junior Programs

**Please see below for details on our 2016 after-school program.**

At Howard Park Tennis Club, we use “progressive tennis” methods for the junior programs by the Armstrong Tennis Academy. Our certified coaches have been trained to implement the latest training methods from Tennis Canada and the ITF (International Tennis Federation), while using the best equipment to teach the children.

Programs

A: Progressive 1

This program is designed for children 4 to 8 years of age. The first level of progressive tennis uses larger decompressed balls to allow for easier exchanges, 19″ to 21″ racquets for better control, mini-sized nets and a smaller 12-metre court, which is proportional to the size of the students.
Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 4 to 4:55 p.m.

B: Progressive 2

This program is designed for students 8 to 10 years of age. The second level of progressive tennis uses a standard-sized tennis ball of much lower compression to allow the student to acquire the required skills at this stage of development. 23″ to 25″ racquets are used and the court is a 3/4 court size (18 metres).
Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 4 to 4:55 p.m. or 5 to 5:55 p.m.

C: Progressive 3

This program is designed for students 10 to 13 years of age. The third level of progressive tennis uses a ball similar to a standard tennis ball, with 25% less compression. The students graduate to a 25″ to 27″ racquet and a full-sized tennis court.
Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 5 to 5:55 p.m.

D: Progressive 4

This program is designed for students who are 13 to 18 years of age and are able to maintain a full rally on a full-sized tennis court with standard tennis balls.
Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 5 to 5:55 p.m.
